How many more days?

You would think that after serving in 2 wars, having over 5300 parachute jumps and choosing a career where I look forward to running into burning buildings while others are running out, that I wouldn't be one bit nervous. Well I am!!! This 2 week wait is killing me. I am constantly asking Rhonda if she heard anything or received any emails from the docs, knowing full well that it has only been a few days. I find most of my day thinking about what I would do with our baby, or babies. Where would I take them, what will they need, what cool toys will I get them (watch out if they are boys!!) all just random thoughts. Rhonda and I on Saturday went and did a little shopping, had lunch and then wandered around a new outdoor shopping plaza that is close to where we live. It was a bit cool and overcast which was nice, since the daily 100 degree temperatures are just around the corner. At either end of the outdoor mall was a sitting area with chairs and couches and also a very large gas fireplace. We went and got an ice cream to share and sat in front of the fire and talked, mostly about baby stuff and passed the time by thinking of baby names for both boys and girls. We both agree that we want to have names that are unique, since our children will be unique and very special. Even though we have had 2 previous failed attempts, I try and remain positive, that is what keeps me going. Rhonda on the other hand is a bit more reserved, she, like most of the other woman suffering from infertility, have grown up with the dreams of always wanting to be a mother, but have encountered obstacles along the way, so being a bit reserved is understandable. I want to thank all of you that have taken the time to read about our journey on our blog and especially those of you that have taken the extra time to leave a comment. Those comments bring so much happiness to us, I can't begin to tell you how much. Seeing the smile on Rhonda's face after reading them gives me such a wonderful feeling. What a great feeling it is to know that so many people have a part to play in each others journey's, we all truly aren't alone. I believe that we are going to get a positive this time, and at supper tonight my fortune cookie was a sign of good news to come.

Oh, and once again speaking of being nervous. When Rhonda and I got home tonight, she was checking her email and blog as she does each day and I was in the other room putting stuff away, when she called out "there's babies". I immediately thought that it was news from the docs about us, but quickly learned that it was pictures of the newly arrived twins. Fantastic news, congratulations to the parents. It's back to waiting, I guess our news will come in time.

Ohhh, the Dreaded 2 Week Wait!

We officially received our 2nd phone call late last night. Only one embryo matured to the 5 day blastocyst stage and thus was transferred into Rekha. So, she is currently carrying 4 of our little ones and we are hoping and praying for a positive pregnancy test. Of the 5 day blastocyst transfers that the Docs have done, so far all have had positive pregnancies. With that said...LUCK is on our side; 3rd times the charm, and all that good stuff!

Our parcel finally cleared Mumbai customs and should be arriving at Dr. S's home any day now. We are excited to hear what everyone thinks of their gifts. They didn't make it for Christmas, but better late then never.

We also received news today that one of the couples on the forum were blessed with the birth of their perfect healthy twins today in Mumbai. One boy and one girl. We couldn't be happier for them.

We had a wonderful new years. New Year's Eve we went to see Marley & Me and I officially boo hoo'd for 30 minutes straight. Gerry had fun going to some drunk and disorderly calls during the night. We all (Frankie included) spent the day at Mom and Dad's swimming and playing games and having fun. Gerry found the perfect opportunity to wear his new Christmas gift from the Docs; an authentic Indian vest.

Just one more late night phone call to go...fingers crossed!!!!

And life begins.

"Hello Rhonda, this is Dr. Sudhir. I am sorry to wake you, but I wanted to share with you that your transfer just took place, and that you both are pregnant until proven otherwise." These were the words we awoke to at our 3:30 a.m telephone call this morning. All 12 embryo's fertilized, and in Dr. Yash's words, 'they are all beautiful Grade A embryo's.' What amazing news! 3 of those were transferred into Rekha and 2 more are to be transferred at the blastocyst phase in just 2 days. We were both awake with excitement at the wonderful news. Rekha was doing fine, and on her way to the clinic to rest. We sent along our love and hugs to her. Dr. Sudhir was there for the entire transfer. Dr. Yash said, it was sad not to see us in the waiting room and missed watching Gerry pacing back and forth as he did with our first transfer, while I was in with the surrogate holding her hand. Our second transfer, he was able to be in the room while I was the one left to pace. So, thanks Dr. Sudhir for taking over with the pacing in our absence. So needless to say, all day was pretty much spent on cloud nine and sharing our great news to anyone who was within ear shot and willing to listen.

Thank you all for your wonderful words of support and encouragement we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and only hope to share those 3 perfect words sometime soon...'We are pregnant!'

Christmas vacation is over.

We are literally hours away from embryo transfer to our surrogate...Mumbai time that is. It is so exciting. We can't wait for the results of how many embryo's fertilized and what the end results were/are.

We have been passing the time with a 4 day weekend holiday of just family and fun. Gerry and I decided to take a day road trip down south towards Tucson area and ran into SNOW! We don't get to enjoy that much anymore since moving away from Canada. It was kinda neat. We love Arizona and have no regrets with our decision to move here 2 1/2 years ago. The mountains never cease to amaze us. The scenery and peacefulness is incredible. We are truly blessed to live here and be able to enjoy this beauty every single day.

The Docs will probably call us late tonight, if not tomorrow. We will surely keep you posted as soon as we get the results of our day 2 transfer. It's back to work for both of us tomorrow.

Beautiful snowy mountains

Prickly Pear Cactus with snow...don't see that too often.

Almost home Frankie Girl, remember you wanted to come for a drive...
